We use a package called ANSYS here at uni.  It's available across a
variety of platforms.  There's also one called (I think) Abaqus.

Our lecturer chose ANSYS more on ease of use than price.  Saying that,
it's not all that easy to use, but I've only had 5 weeks with it ;)
