Introduction

Tenth Young Geotechnical Engineers' Conference will be organized in Turkey.
The theme of

engineers and
scientists to meet and present their ideas and discuss their achievements
and results
of their investigations.

Presentations

Participants are invited to make a presentation of 10 minutes duration on
any topic
within geotechnical engineering which falls into the general context of the
title
"Ground Improvement". Participants are invited to address this theme by
discussing in
their presentations the measure they have taken to assure themselves that
their work is
of the highest quality within the resources avaiable.

Those reporting field work, or case histories could discuss difficulties of
achieving
high quality data and the checks on instrumentation that have been carried out.
Participants should also discuss the value of their work in the context of
the technical
and economic benefit that it provides.

Format

The Conference will be informal in nature, with up to 30 young engineers
from as many
European countries as possible. Each participant is expected to present his
work during
10 minutes, and allow 10 minutes time for discussions.

In order to help in organizing the Conference participants are requested to
send the
title of their presentations, plus an abstract, to the Conference
Secretariat before

extended summary
of his or her presentation, of two type written pages maximum, and bring 40
copies of the
summary to the Conference for distribution.

A small number of senior geotechnical engineers will be invited to give
short talks, to
chair and stimulate the discussions during sessions, and to share their
experience with
the younger colleagues.
