CIVIL ENGINEERING DATABASE
SUBSCRIBER NEWSLETTER
SUMMER 1996, issue no. 28
NEW SERIALS; NEW NAME; and NEW TECHNOLOGY
TWO NEW QUARTERLY PUBLICATIONS
In 1997, two new serials will begin publishing. One is the JOURNAL OF COMPOSITES
FOR CONSTRUCTION. A journal of the ASCE Materials Engineering Division, it will
publish original research papers, review articles, and case studies dealing with
composite materials consisting of continuous synthetic fibers and matrices for
use in civil engineering structures and subjected to the loadings and
environments of the infrastructure. The journal will be published quarterly:
February, May, August, and November. The second one is the Practice Periodical
of Hazardous, Toxic, & Radioactive Waste Management. A practice periodical of
the ASCE Environmental Engineering Division, it will publish practice-oriented
articles on the areas of hazardous, toxic, and radioactive waste management
with respect to the regulatory, scientific, and engineering aspects. This
quarterly publication will come out in January, April, July, and October. For
further information, please contact the Marketing Department at (800) 548-2723
or marketing@asce.org. And look for information from these new journals to start
appearing in the CEDB in 1997.
ONE TITLE CHANGED
One of ASCE's oldest publications is changing its name from the JOURNAL OF
GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING to the JOURNAL OF GEOTECHNICAL AND GEOENVIRONMENTAL
ENGINEERING in recognition of the changes occurring in this ever-developing
field.
DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY AND PUBLISHING
Electronic books, whether they are online or on disk, provide publishers and
authors the opportunity to bring added value to their product. ASCE's first
conference proceedings on CD ROM, NORTH AMERICAN WATER AND ENVIRONMENT CONGRESS
AND DESTRUCTIVE WATER, provides easy electronic access to over 700 papers. It is
searchable by title, author and keywords. To distinguish the database record of
an electronic book from our printed books, a new Document Type (\DT) has been
established called: Electronic book. There will also be a publication note in
the record that will tell you exactly what type of electronic book it is - a CD
ROM, a Multimedia Package, etc. The database record would look like:
CN 9604750 CEDB
TI North American Water and Environment Congress & Destructive Water
AU Bathala, Chenchayya, ed.
SO (1996), CD-ROM (Windows version only), 1340 pp Publisher: New York: ASCE
