Seventh ENGINEERING EDUCATION WORKSHOP
for Teachers, Counselors, and Administrators

June 22-27, 1997
Penn State Conference Center Hotel
Penn State University Park Campus

a continuing and distance education service of the College of Engineering and
the College of Education

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES

The workshop aims to provide an opportunity for key educators to assume
leadership roles in engineering and science education, by:

increasing their familiarity with the engineering professions;
updating their knowledge base in applied science;
enhancing communication skills on science and technology issues;
promoting appropriate curriculum updates to reflect recent advances in science
and technology.

WHO SHOULD APPLY

All educators at the primary and secondary levels are eligible to participate
in the program. Women and members of minority ethnic groups underrepresented
in engineering are particularly encouraged to apply.

OVERVIEW

The workshop is the first of a three-phase program designed to reinforce and
enhance the teachers', counselors', and administrators' skills and
perspectives in communicating applied science and technology concepts and
career alternatives to students, and in relevant curriculum planning and
implementation. Participation in Phases II and III is optional.
