CALL FOR PAPERS ANNOUNCEMENT
American Concrete Institute Convention
March 1999
Meeting: Technical session on "High-Performance Concrete Used in Construction
Requiring Normal Strength Concrete" during the March 1999 ACI convention,
Chicago, Ill. Session sponsored by the TAC High-Performance Concrete
Committee.
Solicited: Papers and presentation relating to application of HPC technology to
construction for which the structural requirements for the concrete did not
exceed 5000 psi (35 MPa). Papers should not be restatements of traditional
practices but recent efforts to improve constructability and/or durability.
Topics can include but are not limited to selection of materials and
construction methods used to meet performance criteria other than structural
design strength, air content, and/or slab flatness. Performance objectives of
special interest are permeability, resistance to abrasion/erosion, ease of
placement or compaction without use of high-range water reducers, early
strength (6 to 12 hours), residential construction, creep, reduction of heat of
hydration while producing other HPC objectives, and crack control. It is
anticipated that the strength produced for this work will significantly exceed
that required for structural design needs.
Requirements: 1) Title, 2) author (s) name, title, organization, address,
telephone, FAX, and e-mail if available, 3) abstract of 200 - 300 words.
Prepared papers are preferred as the Committee wishes to publish the session as
examples of work done where high strength was not the goal. Abstracts to be
submitted by June 15, 1998. English is language to be used.
