No, that won't do it.  A Canadian 767 ran out of fuel a few years ago, because
it was fueled in kilograms instead of pounds, or vice versa.  The captain, who
happened to fly gliders on his off days, made a perfect dead stick landing on a
grass landing strip, and while there was damage to the plane there were no
injuries.
